Race: Duskwight ElezenRhadka Zemanov was born into very fortuitous circumstances. His family's nomadic village was one of many that had been absorbed by the Garlean Empire during their long conquest, and as a requirement of this absorption, were required to serve in the military. During his time among the Garleans, Rhadka's father contributed to projects that improved the lives of citizens in the capital. His loyalty was rewarded, and over time he and his family moved closer to the capital, where Rhadka was then born. He looked up to his father and would eventually follow in his footsteps.With enough connections and enough skill, Rhadka attended and graduated the Magitek Academy and began his 20 years of service shortly thereafter. Like his father, he contributed no small amount of effort toward Garlean expansion and conquest; his inventive strategies and engineering skill won many a skirmish, but unfortunately his career would come to a screeching halt when his unit found themselves surrounded and overwhelmed by the Eorzean front during the last few weeks of fighting.When faced with inevitable defeat, the sole engineer surrendered and was taken prisoner. During his interrogations and subsequent conversations with those on the other side, he came to learn of the extent of the many lies he'd been living with, but could not be convinced. He held steadfast to his beliefs and loyalty even as the people he fought for refused to negotiate for his release, seemingly content with letting a loyal subject rot away in a cell.When news of the capital's destruction reached him, he didn't know what to think. As the Final Days came upon them, he was forced to confront the reality of his situation; the home he knew was no more, the lies revealed to him were in fact true, and all the love he'd had for his home and countrymen was for nothing.Humiliated and humbled, Rhadka threw away his titles and adopted a new name, defecting from the only home he'd ever known and pledging loyalty to a new cause. While he is still under observation, he's put his energy and anger into his gadgetry. Newly freed from confinement, he has joined the Garland Ironworks, and seeks to travel to places he hasn't seen before and learn more about the scores of people he'd never really known.
HOOKS
+ Rhadka is a formally trained engineer who can work with most types of technology, including magitek. He's always happy to repair broken things, and spends a lot of his free time inventing new gadgets.+ Other expats might find good company with Rhadka, but don't expect him to be interested in reveling over "the good old days". He has very little good to say about where he's come from and won't humor any apologists.+ He doesn't know all that much about the world outside of Garlemald and its politics and tends to commit the occasional faux pas as a result.
